Beckman Coulter CytoFLEX SRT Cell Sorter

Lab:
Description:

Cell Sorter Flow Cytometers applies the principles of flow cytometry in an innovative technology designed to extract cells of interest from a heterogenous suspension and retain it separately for further analyses. The application of cell sorting involves high-voltage deflection plates that directs passing charged droplets (which contains the cells/particles of interest) into the appropriate collection tube.

Model:

Beckman Coulter CytoFLEX SRT Cell Sorter (primarily for the sorting of infectious cells or particles)

Location:
Biomedical Research Institute (BMRI), Tygerberg Medical campus (BSL3 Laboratory)
Functions:

Beckman Coulter CytoFLEX SRT sorter characteristics

  • 15 channel, 4-laser instrument, 4-way sorting
  • 4-lasers set up with 15 fluorescent channels of detection.

Beckman Coulter SRT sorter laser and bandpass Configuration

  • Droplet sorting at 30 000 events per second.
  • Delivers a high degree of purity and yield.
  • Sorting platforms: 4-way sort for tubes of size 1.5 to 5 ml; 2-way for 15 ml tubes; 1-way/direct sort into plates or microscope slides; 8-chamber slides.
  • Sorting modes: single (most stringent, low yield) to purity, purity 1- 2, and enrich (least stringent, high yield.
  • Index sort: sorting of a single cell into a well of a multi-well plate.
  • Automated set up and calibration.
Purpose:

The Beckman Coulter CytoFLEX SRT sorter can be used for sorting from any type of heterogenous suspension (human cells to microorganism) for downstream culturing or detailed molecular, genetic and protein analyses.
