Thermo Fisher Apreo Volumescope SBF-(FEG-)SEM

Lab:
Description:

The Thermo Scientific Apreo Volumescope 2 is a proven SBF-(FEG-)SEM solution that can capture large data volumes from a wide range of biological specimens.

The Apreo Volumescope 2 SEM is a workhorse solution for a range of volume EM techniques, making it an ideal choice for multi-use environments where many different specimens are explored. It provides multiple acquisition modes on a single SEM platform, including 2D large-area SEM imaging, array tomography, scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) and correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM).

The Thermofisher Scientific Apreo VolumeScope is a field emission gun scanning electron microscope (FEG-SEM) offering a broad range of beam current settings from 1 pA to 400 nA and an accelerating voltage range of 200 V to 30 kV.

This advanced instrument is equipped with a comprehensive suite of detectors, including:

  • Three in-lens detectors:
    • T1 (Backscatter Electron Detector)
    • T2 (Secondary Electron Detector)
    • T3 (Primary and Secondary electron detector)
  • Serial Block-Face Imaging Detectors for both low and high vacuum condition
  • Section thickness start from 50nm.
  • Everhart-Thornley Secondary Electron Detector (ETD)
  • Low-Vacuum Secondary Electron Detector
  • As low as 0.5mbar
  • STEM 3+ Retractable Segmented Detector

The system is operated in conjunction with a suite of software platforms developed by Thermo Fisher Scientific, including:

  • xT Microscope Software – for instrument control
  • Amira – for 3D visualization and analysis
